I've got really strong powers and stuff. Mr. Kipinn and Ms. Nala've taught me real good, so I can do things with the wind and heal your cuts or bruises...

Um—and I can also make you a dream-catch-er. I made one once, and I hung it up, and some of my bad dreams started going away. So maybe it'll help you, too! They won't look ugly, I promise; I'll make them so nice, you'll really like them...!

[So with that out of the way, the day may continue. Which is basically "hell yes Elicia found a magnifying glass" day. The best obvious thing to do is to keep wearing the cape and go from Sailor to Detective. She's crouched down in the grass with a few dolls around her, looking intensely at a papertowel roll sitting on top of a book.

[Oh? She looks up, confused, curious.]

The Capitol? What's that place?

[There are so many ways to describe the Capitol. So many words she can use. Battlefield is the first that comes to mind. Prison is another. A place where people go to die.

In the end, she settles on something more suited for a little girl.] The biggest city in all of Panem.

Ooh... I think my city was the biggest, too. They called it Central, and it was in the middle of everything... I don't remember it so good anymore though; I haven't seen it in... in two years! I think. Mama says I've been here pretty long.

[Two years. That's an awfully long time. But if it means Rue'd still be here, living her life like she should've in the first place, she won't hesitate to stay. It's not like she has a lot to go back to. Maybe Peeta. But even then, would things ever be like they were before the hijacking?]

How old were you when you came here?

I just had my fifth birthday when I came here! And now I'm about to be seven... I'm growing up really fast; I grew a lot of inches tall and everything!

Seven is a very important age.

[She was seven when her father first took her into the woods. Not to hunt, just to gather. But it was a good age. Good times and memories.]

[She hesitantly leans forward, eyeballing what Katniss has brought with her.]

U-um, do we get to plant seeds?

'Cus I was definitely kidding about being a frog!

[Clearly, if she hadn't told you, you would have thought her a frog. And you wouldn't plant seeds with her. Yeah. :|]

You were, were you? [Said with a laugh. She knew all along. But it's much more fun this way. And it's been such a long time since she's had fun so pure and simple.

A smile and she reaches in to her pouch to pull out the seeds.] First thing you have to do is learn what seeds are what. Otherwise, how would you know what you're planting?

'Cus seeds like different from each other, like how trees look different! Right?

Right.

[She scoots over on the carousel ledge to put some space between her and Elicia. Then, she places some of the seeds between then. There are apple, rhubarb, carrot, radish, and fennel seeds.]

There'll be more to chose from in a couple of months. Do you recognize any of them?

Um....

[She chews on her fingernail, before pointing to the the apple seeds.]

These are definitely in my apples!

[She smiles at that.]

Yeah. Those are apples. [Then, she points to each pile of the remaining seeds and gives a name.]

[She huffs, looking a little sheepish at all this.]

I don't know what a lot of those are, I think...

I-I know what carrots are, though!

[The response gets an encouraging look.]

Those are all plants that are common in the woods back home. That I’ve also found here. Do you like vegetables?

[She nods.]

'Cept for brussels sprouts! I don't like those at all.

They smell bad and they taste weird.

I don't mind brussel sprouts.

[Because when you're having a Hollow Day, when you're so hungry that nothing seems to satisfy your hunger, you'll eat anything. She knows that. She knows that all too well. She's never had that opportunity, to be picky about food.

Elicia does not know how lucky she is that she can pick and chose.]

[Lucky indeed.]

You don't? Do you like all the kinds of food?

I like some foods better than others.

[But if you gave her food, any food, she won't be picky. She'll eat what's given without complaint. How can she not, when she spent so many years just scraping by in District Twelve?]

But I'll eat it all. [She hesitates just for a moment before continuing. A small explanation won't hurt.] We couldn't be picky where I grew up.

Ohhh... I guess I shouldn't be picky, either... 'Cause all food is good food, right?

It is.

[But... the little girl should be able to eat what she wants. Food here is plentiful so long as the Malnosso keep it that way. There's no reason why she can't be picky.

She frowns. She hadn't meant to make Elicia think otherwise.] But I think there's enough food here that no one goes hungry. And if the Malnosso ever take it away, I can hunt. I'll make sure you still have food.

[She nods.]

Alright! You can make sure I'll have food, and I'll make sure you have food!

[She doesn't know what the little girl can offer in return. But denying the offer would be unfair to the girl. So she gives her a grin and a nod.]

[She smiles wide at that, pumping one fist before she turns to the patch of earth in the back; perfect for plants! Maybe! She's not sure, but she did try to find a decent spot to start.]

Let's plant some cool food!

[Who would've thought that such a small girl would have such a loud voice? It startles her for a moment before she laughs.
